Chris Dougal from Engica an employer learningSkills have worked closely with, explains why apprenticeships are a great recruitment tool for businesses out there and with grants of up to £3000 available now has never been a better time!
Engica who are part of the Prometheus Group are a specialist software company based in Baltic Place and had previously struggled to recruit staff with the skills they needed so turned to learningSkills to help with their recruitment. Chris Dougal Head of Projects at Engica said “We frequently struggled to get staff with the skills we needed, so decided to go down the apprentice route after discussing with the team at learningSkills.”
The apprentices within the company assist the senior project managers and engineers in all aspects from implementing a specialised configured piece of software. Chris explains how the company look after their apprentices and help them to grow. Chris said, “I have a team which includes ex apprentices (some who now have 1st Class Honours Degrees) who know our business and our customers and are an asset to the team.”
The learningSkills team build a close working relationship with employers to gain a good understanding of the business their needs and requirements. They then work with the employer to develop job descriptions.
Chris said “I have nothing but praise for the service. I have an excellent relationship with the team there. They know exactly what I am looking for, they are helpful and I in turn have helped them promote their business. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with John and the team and long may it continue.”
Chris went on to say why she would recommend the service to other employers out there. “I have and will continue to recommend apprenticeships. It’s a great way to grow your business and a fantastic way to give something back to these young people who have put so much faith and trust in us.”
