A unique opportunity to join our outstanding team at Bright Stars Nursery based at Hudson Road Primary School in Sunderland. This will be to support children who require 1:1 support and are working on support plans with a view to go forward for Education Health and Care plan for their future education.

Role and Responsibilities

- To follow the EYFS principles providing fulfilling and enriching learning opportunities in all areas of a child’s development.

- To follow the support plan for the individual children providing learning opportunities that will support their continued development as directed by external agencies, with support from mentors.

- Keep support plans up to date with evidence to show progress with support from child’s key person.

- To ensure a high level of care is provided at all times

- To follow nursery policies and procedures and safeguarding all children in their care.

- To contribute to team discussions and plan learning opportunities.

- With support from mentors develop, produce and use visual aids and teaching resources as required for the child’s support plan.

- Share knowledge gained with other practitioners

- Build and maintain relationships with parents.

- Work alongside parents/carers of children with special education needs to provide full integration to the setting.

- Observe, assess and record children’s progress with support from mentors.

- Keep up to date with changes to the curriculum and developments in best practice.

- Personal care elements e.g. supporting changing clothes when wet.

- Maintain high standards.

- Be prepared to step in and support in other areas, such as preparing snack, setting out and clearing away at lunchtime, cleaning and tidying of the nursery setting.

- Record accidents or incidents as they occur in nursery.

- Attend monthly staff meetings.

- To be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers.

Required Qualifications

Maths, English and ICT, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent

Training

· Maths and English to Level 2 required, if not already achieved

· Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour in relation to

o customer service principles and practices

o business principles

o technical competencies

o knowledge and understating

o research activities

o commercial awareness

o managing challenging situations and taking ownership

o health and safety

· Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider – for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence

Undertake a self-assessment in the last month of their apprenticeship to enable them to see whether they are confident that they have taken on board all aspects of the occupation. This self-assessment must be submitted to the independent end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for independent End Point Assessment which will include a showcase portfolio; a project; an employer reference and a structured interview about their portfolio and project.
