Community Activator Coach (Sports)

Overview

Are you a natural leader with a passion for promoting sport, health and well being in primary school aged children? Crookhill Primary School is looking for an apprentice to work with the whole school team contributing to raising standards of pupils’ achievement, focusing on PE and Healthy Lifestyles. You need to be self – motivated, resilient and with some experience coaching children in physical activity. We are looking for a role model who can engage with all our pupils from Reception to year 6. You will work under the professional direction of the school’s experienced PE team.

Role and Responsibilities

Working closely with the PE coordinator to improve the profile of PE and school sport.
Supporting teachers and teaching assistants in PE classes.
Running a variety of sports clubs after school
Organising break and lunchtime activities that provide structured activity for pupils
Working with staff to promote outdoor learning
Promoting the school healthy lifestyle programme.
Supporting the Schools PSHE/Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator with activities that promote Healthy Eating and Mental Well Being
Working with the PE Co-ordinator to support groups of children attending sports events with other schools
Making links with community sports groups.
Under the direction of the PE Co-ordinator organising PE resources
Assisting teachers and especially PE Co-ordinator with basic administrative tasks such as record keeping and promoting the schools sports activity and achievements through social media
Assisting with supervision of children at break times
Following the school’s Safeguarding Policy and Behaviour Policy providing accurate details of any concerns

  • Supporting in the classroom as a Teaching Assistant for all areas of curriculum

Required Qualifications

Maths, English and ICT, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Training

  • Level 2 community activator apprenticeship
  • Maths & English level 2 if not already achieved.
  • Appts with apprentice, employer & provider, observations of workplace as well as gathering evidence.
  • Undertake self-assessment in last month of apprenticeship. The self-assessment must be submitted to the end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for End Point Assessment which will include a showcase portfolio; a project, employer reference & interview about the portfolio and project.
