Role and Responsibilities

  • supporting the teacher in the management of the classroom and organisation.
  • undertaking activities, as directed by the teacher with individuals or small groups of pupils.
  • provide admin support like photocopying, typing and filing.
  • supervising pupils and participating in activities including giving support and intervention in Childs play.
  • to be in control of classroom maintenance like setting out, clearing away and care of resources to create a purposeful and attractive environment.
  • assisting in the preparation, maintenance and repair of book, apparatus and equipment.
  • preparing work for display around the school.
  • demonstrating creativity in assisting with the practical resourcing of the classroom.
  • assisting the supervision of pupils on breaktimes and lunch times.
  • may be required to assist with medical support in accordance with the schools policy.
  • working with pupils directly on curriculum related tasks under the direction of the teacher.
  • assisting with the monitoring and evaluating the learning environment provided for the pupils and use of this evaluation to help make necessary changes and development in the classroom.

Required Qualifications

Maths, English and ICT, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent

Training

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship
  • Maths & English level 2 if not already achieved.
  • Appts with apprentice, employer & provider, observations of workplace as well as gathering evidence.
  • Undertake self-assessment in last month of apprenticeship. The self-assessment must be submitted to the end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for End Point Assessment which will include a showcase portfolio; a project, employer reference & interview about the portfolio and project.
