Role and Responsibilities
- Motivate and stimulate a child's learning abilities, often encouraging learning through experience
- Following EYFS principles providing fulfilling and enriching learning opportunities for children
- Ensure a high level of care provided at all times
- Follow nursery policy and procedures and safeguard all children in their care
- Contribute to learning team and planning lessons together
- Provide pastoral care and support to children and give them with a secure learning environment
- Assist with the development of a child's personal, social, language and physical coordination abilities
- Develop and produce visual aids and teaching resources
- Encourage mathematical and creative development through stories, songs, games, drawing and imaginative play
- Help children develop curiosity and knowledge
- Work with others to plan and coordinate work both indoors and outdoors
- Share knowledge gained with other practitioners and build and maintain relationships with parents
- Observe, assess and record each child's progress
- Ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery or school
- Keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice
- Personal care elements e.g. taking pupil to toilet / Nappy changes

- Able to work as part of a team, as well as individually
- Able to deal with children/parents sensitively and keep information confidential
- Awareness of Safeguarding and the EYFS
Required Qualifications
- Maths and English, GCSE Grade 9-4 / A*-C or equivalent
Training
- Maths and English to Level 2 required, if not already achieved
- Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider – for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence
- Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour in relation to: customer service principles and practices, planning, regulation, responsibility and IT, business principles, customer communication and health and safety
- Undertake a self-assessment in the last month of their apprenticeship to enable them to see whether they are confident that they have taken on board all aspects of the occupation. This self-assessment must be submitted to the independent end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for independent End Point Assessment which will include multiple choice assessment; showcase portfolio of learning and interview; presentation of a project
