Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 Apprenticeship

Equivalent to higher national diploma (HND). Develop leadership and management skills and provide support in disseminating best practice in the use of observation, assessments and planning to meet children's needs. Reflect and build on practice through ongoing professional enquiry and action research to contribute to the pedagogical approach of their setting.

What is the Programme Content?

Develop effective Safeguarding and Welfare Practices within the Early Years setting. Lead and promote positive change in the early years setting via development of resources, the environment and staff. Implement pedagogic practice to establish inclusive play opportunities. Build productive professional practice with parents and carers. Develop purposeful health, care and wellbeing processes. Investigate organisational practice, identifying an area for improvement to promote staff development and practical change. Develop effective assessment and planning processes, following requirements of legislation

Who is it for?

Suitable for someone already employed for a minimum 30 hrs per week in an early years childcare or education setting, preferably with a Level 3 qualification, who is looking to develop inspirational leadership skills, robust quality processes, high quality planning and staff development.

What prior experience and knowledge do I need?

Level 2 Maths and English. Vocational area of expertise – at least a Level 2 in Early Years or Caring for Children, preferably Level 3 Early Years or relevant practical experience of working at this level

What materials or equipment do I need to provide?

Basic stationery for note taking. Access to IT / digital devices to access learning materials and create evidence to be submitted for assessment.

Taught sessions and 1:1 reviews with highly skilled and experienced tutor who will guide and assess your development throughout your bespoke journey. Access to ePortfolio digital platform and Google Classroom to support learning and preparation for End Point Assessment.

How will I be assessed?

Taught sessions and reviews, with requirement to complete action research and reflective accounts throughout programme. End Point Assessment – Observation of practice, Professional Discussion, Presentation of Action Research with Q&A

What can I do next?

Undertake Nursery or Early Years Management and Senior roles, become and EYFS Specialist in Child Development, Early Years Consultant or Play Lead. Go on to train as an Early Years Teacher, progress into SEND Co, Safeguarding Co, or other coordinator roles following employer CPD.
