Healthcare Science Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship

Requirements Level 1 Maths and English, with Level 2 attempted or GCSEs C/4 or above a minimum of 30 hours working week work within a hospital, general practice or other health setting 15 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment. Must be employed for 18 months completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science 'off the job' training must be provided, a minimum of 6 hours a week (355 for a 15-month apprenticeship) support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews every 4 weeks What you'll do at work perform a range of routine technical and scientific procedures and services in accordance with standard operating procedures, policies and protocols select and prepare equipment and the environment for healthcare science procedures carry out stock control of healthcare science equipment and consumables support the provision of clinical care delivered to individuals and maintain client confidentiality communicate effectively with individuals record, report and store information adhering to information governance and confidentiality requirements support a multidisciplinary healthcare team maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace contribute to audit, innovation or research within scope of own role maintain and develop own competence

A blend of • Taught workshops • Tutorials • Self-directed learning and application in a business environment Development of skills, knowledge and behaviours throughout continuous & professional development You will be required to develop your knowledge of the business you work in. Meeting regulations and legislation accordingly.

Those wishing to pursue a career within a care/health setting and/or frontline staff in health/care settings.

What prior experience and knowledge do I need?

Level two – prior experience/knowledge is not required. Apprentices without level one or equivalent English and maths will need to achieve this before end point assessment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods workplace and remote tutor meetings independent research and written answers reflective accounts professional discussion observations in the workplace witness testimonies completed by mentor and service users End point assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. The assessment will consist of: professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence observation of practice with questions
