What is a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship?
What is Digital Marketing?
Put simply, digital marketing is managing the online presence of your organisation or brand. The specific tasks that you’ll be doing will depend on the employer you’re working for, but includes things like managing company social media accounts and their website, sending promotional emails to customers, writing blog posts about topics relevant to the business and may even include things like recording and editing videos. The reason I love digital marketing so much is that it’s the perfect blend of technology, data, and creativity. It’s all about using technology in creative ways to give a better offering to your customers.
What do you need to know to start?
The great thing about doing an apprenticeship, is that you’re expected to know little to nothing when you’re starting out and you have the freedom to make mistakes and learn. For Digital Marketing, I’d say having a good knowledge of social media platforms and the features they offer is a good starting point. I’d say you need to be confident working with computers and technology in general, because you’ll likely work with a variety of different softwares and online platforms to do your job.
Why choose Digital Marketing
I think Digital Marketing is a great first step for anyone looking to start a career. The industry is really kicking off, especially thanks to COVID, and in a few years time I’d be willing to bet that every company is going to need a digital marketer. It also covers such a broad range of activities that you can specialise in the areas you find the most interesting. For example, some digital marketers like to focus on the more techy and data analysis side of things, and others prefer the creative side where they’re coming up with content ideas and designing things, it really is that broad of a range.
